I can’t claim this to be anything but a best guess but the design is based on the crupper. That is the loop that goes around the horse’s tail with a strap that must still sit flat along the horses back. Seems likely that a dragoon musket strap would follow the same principle. Period pictures indicate some sort of loop around the barrel but not any sort of metal fixing to the stock so, again, our design is based on that period information.

The leather is veg tan and can be made to fit any length of musket.
